Records management (RM), also referred to as Records information management or RIM, is the professional practice or discipline of controlling and governing what are regarded as the most significant records of an organization throughout the records lifecycle, which comprises in the time such records are considered through with their eventual disposal. This work includes keeping, classifying, prioritizing, identifying, securing, archiving, preserving, retrieving, tracking and destroying of records.
Records management is part of an organization’s broader actions which are associated with the subject or area referred to as Government, risk, and compliance (or “GRC”) and is mostly concerned with the signs of an organization’s actions along with the reduction or decrease of hazard that could be connected with such evidence.
